Conference on Youth and Ethical Education 2010

The international conference on "Youth and Ethics Education" organised by the Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council and the Youth Union of Yoga in Daily Life started on Friday evening, 3rd Dec. 2010, with a "Colourful Concert" , a cultural programme that reflected different streams of contemporary and traditional spiritual music.

Among many speakers, professor Jaroslav Vacek, the world famous indologist and linguist, pointed out the significance of the Indian heritage for ethics and spirituality in our modern world.
Ing. Lenka Henebergova, director of the National Agency for European Educational Programs, explained the importance of the conference for Czech schools, where just recently a new subject ...Ethics... was introduced into school curriculum. The conference and its workshops demonstrating examples of good practice in introducing Ethics into schools is a great inspiration for many teachers and school principals.
His Holiness Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, initiator of the conference, addressed the audience with an appeal to foster relationships between parents and children - parents should hold their children in their lap, and not their laptops. He also explained that with the development of spirituality, ethics develops automatically, too.


Planting World Peace Tree in Children Village in Novi Sad, Serbia

His Holiness Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwaranandaji planted his 50th World Peace Tree in the park of an orphanage village in the city of Novi Sad. He was officially greeted and introduced as one of the greatest humanitarian workers in Europe and worldwide by Mr. Vladimir Kopici, the Deputy Mayor of Novi Sad, and other officials from the City Council and the Assembly of Novi Sad. Hundreds of children as well as delegates and guests from several countries followed the ceremony. In his address His Holiness Vishwaguruji emphazised that this tree should stay as a symbol of Peace and at the same time shall fulfill the wishes of all who come and touch this tree with pure heart and wishes.


Peace prayer in Umag

The one-day-event „Day of Non-Violence for World Peace“ that took place on Saturday, October the 2nd on the UN International Day of Peace was the highlight of the yoga retreat organized from September 24 till October 3 in the historical town of Umag, Croatia.

Vishwaguruji at the Parliament of World Religions

Founder of Yoga in Daily Life, HH Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda was invited to give a keynote address at the Hindu Convocation of Spiritual Leaders, a gathering of most eminent Swamis and Hindu scholars from all over the world. HH Swamiji said: “If we want harmony and peace in our world, it is up to each individual to act at the grassroots level. Each life is the light of God, and awareness of this fact only comes when there is a clear consciousness, which can be achieved through the practice of mantras, prayers, yoga and following the principle of Ahimsa. It depends on us. We can make a difference.”

Swamiji awarded medal of the city Vienna

Peace Tree Planting ceremony was led by renowned environmentalist and Ambassador for Peace, His Holiness Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, author of the worldwide recognized system Yoga in Daily Life, and Vienna City Councillor for the Environment Ulli Sima, with invited local officials and community leaders, at the City Park of Vienna. 
At this occasion His Holiness was awarded a silver medal of honour of the City of Vienna with the image of the "Rathausmann", the city's landmark - for his long lasting merits for public health and world peace by the City Councillor.

In their speeches the representatives of the City of Vienna expressed their respect and gratefulness to Swamiji for spreading Yoga in Daily Life in Vienna for a healthy and natural lifestyle and for the benefit of all citizens.
The representative of the Indian Embassy in Vienna, Mr. Patnaik appreciated Swamiji's initiative of planting peace trees around the globe to remind people on their unity with nature and environment.

Meeting with Bosnia & Herzegovina Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić

Bosnia & Herzegovina Presidency Chairman Mr. Željko Komšić welcomed this distinguished saint and humanist, and expressed appreciation and gratefulness about his efforts in promoting peace.

His Holiness Swamiji had an extensive and amicable talk with the President. They exchanged in particular their views of a multi-cultural, multi-national and multi-confessional environment as it exists in Bosnia & Hercegovina as well as in India. Tolerance, respect and understanding are the base of a peaceful living together in every community, and especially in such a multi-ethnic situation.
